So it’s 2019 and I’ve been reading. :D A few novels, a lot of fan fiction because I truly do have a weakness for it, a short story here and there.
I read fiction. I’m always surprised when I hear about writers of fiction who don’t read fiction. Or those who read very little fiction, because they don’t have time or the inclination to read more.
To be honest, I don’t understand those people. :) I write because I love to read stories and writing my own is an outgrowth of that love of reading. But there have been times when I haven’t thought I was making time to read, and other times when I just wanted to read more of one type of story or another.
For those reasons, and others, I have several years’ worth of fiction reading logs here.
Below is my list for this year. Below that is a list of previous reading logs, now archived.
- AFTER Life: Inferno by Robert Chazz Chute
- The Cloud Roads by Martha Wells – I loved this book. I mean, really, really loved it. I loved the Murderbot Diaries by this author too, but this book is *worlds* better. I’m so glad I came across it.
- Claiming the Duchess by Sherry Thomas
- Subhuman by Michael McBride
- Coldbrook by Tom Lebbon
- Tightrope by Amazon Quick
- Binti by Nnedi Okorafor
- The Courtship by Grace Burrowes
- The Lion’s Lady by Julie Garwood
- Riling Up the Rival by Mara Townsend
I started a whole bunch of other books, but I haven’t finished any of them yet. But dear Lord, that’s an eclectic mix this year.
Counting the fan fiction I’ve read this year, my paper log is up to 134 entries, a great many of them novel length.
Previous reading logs:
These logs aren’t complete. I only list fiction and some of the logs were started midway into the year. I read a lot of fan fiction and none of it is listed in the logs, mostly because a great many fan fiction writers don’t want undue attention brought to their works, and I respect that. (I’ve written a bit of fan fiction myself, and I feel the same way.)
Whenever I think about deleting these logs, I can’t quite make myself do it. So here they are. :-)
FYI: This page has affiliate links to Amazon for some of the books. Buy or don’t, it doesn’t matter to me, but if you’re gonna, I might as well get a penny, right? :D
